CloseWith laser focused attention to minimalist winemaking, Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon have achieved what so many have attempted, yet so few have succeeded, making authentic Burgundian style wines in the United States. This Chardonnay from four of the best parcels in Oregon’s Eola-Amity Hills is a wonderful expression of their vision and terroirs from the volcanic and marine sedimentary soils of the Willamette Valley. This blend spends 12 months in 45% new, 350- and 500-liter oak barrels and then another 3 months in stainless steel to settle. This all brings beautiful aromas of freshly made popcorn, flint, brioche, and crisp apple. The palate is medium bodied with a slightly creamy texture and notes of crisp apple, honeysuckle, candied lime, basil, and perfectly ripe orchard fruit with precisely balanced acidity, saline, and a pleasantly long finish. Pairs delightfully with a buttered Dungeness crab, creamy lobster ravioli, or ripe dragon fruit with goat cheese.
