Nestled among the gentle rolling hills and rugged mountains of northwestern Spain is the Espanillo vineyard, of which only the oldest and highest altitude red Mencia vines are used to make this small production cuvee. These old (biodynamically tended) vines have produced a pure, medium bodied wine marked with ripe dark fruit and deliciously wild garrigue: herbs de provence, juniper, and thyme on the palate. Pair with the Castilla y León specialty of roast suckling pig and lamb or aged cheeses.
