2022 Chateau Lestignac Michel Michel Skin Contact - Loire Valley, France (750ml)

Young couple Camille and Mathias Marquet manage Château Lestignac and its 70-year-old vines after inheriting the family farm in 2008. They pared down the vineyard to the best sites and introduced a combination of a diverse garden and livestock. Instead of machines, horses are used to work the estate. This helped them to develop a true polyculture, complementing their organic & biodynamic farming style. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts are always used along with only a touch of sulfites at bottling. The Michel Michel is composed of a blend of 35% Sauvignon Blanc, 55% Sauvignon Gris, and 10% Muscadelle. It sees two weeks of skin contact before being aged in concrete tanks for six months. With flavors of citrus peel and a white tea note, this is a clean orange with a light to medium body and gentle tannins. Pair with a crab ravioli in a lemon butter sauce or with a creamier cheese such as Saint Angel.

2022 Barbichette Wines Riesling Nuit Blanche - Seneca Lake, NY (750ml)

César Vega and Louisiane Remy started as specialty coffee roasters before delving into winemaking with grapes grown exclusively in New York. The blend in this cuvée consists of 70% Riesling and 30% Chardonnay, farmed organically and harvested by hand along the shores of Seneca Lake. The crushed grapes are soaked overnight followed by seven days of skin contact, giving the wine its gorgeous honeycomb robe. Spontaneous fermentation occurs in a mix of foudre, barrel and composite egg before aging on its fine lees and blending. Barbichette bottles without fining or filtration. The nose mingles delicate aromas of white peach, orange rind, yellow flowers with Riesling’s telltale whiff of petrol and a touch of funk. Medium-bodied with crisp acidity and a firm tannic grip, the palate delivers tropical fruit, meyer lemon and orange blossom with great minerality, salinity, citrus bitters and a touch of cream. Pair with Hoisin -glazed pork chops on a bed of cabbage slaw or a buffalo tofu hero.

2020 Roberto Henríquez Rivera Del Notro Mezcla Especial Old Vine Orange - Itata Valley, Chile (750ml)

This stellar orange wine from Chilean winemaker Roberto Henriquez is an iteration of his Notro Blanco wine, featuring a unique blend of Torontel, Chasselas, and Semillón grapes. This wine sees an extended skin contact of 8 months, resulting in a slightly oxidative wine with dry, supple tannins. With perfumed aromatics and notes of mandarin zest and rose petal, this tangy orange wine is an excellent example of a low-intervention small production wine sure to wow. Pair with chancho en piedra (pork in spiced tomato sauce), sopaipillas, and fresh white cheese.
