2025 Echeverria Miao Pet Nat Rose - Valle del Curico, Chile (750ml) - $22
The Echeverria family’s roots in Chilean winemaking date back to the 1930s. Currently, Roberto runs the estate with his four children and has emerged as one of Chile’s most dynamic and respected winemakers. Miao is a somewhat dark, Pet Nat rosé that’s made up of 98% Chardonnay and 2% Cabernet Franc that’s vinified as a red on its skins, thus the deeper color. From 50 year old, organically farmed vines rooted in soils rich with limestone and volcanic rocks, the grapes are hand picked and de-stemmed then cold pressed and macerated for 24 hours prior to a natural, native yeast fermentation in stainless steel. Fermentation is completed in the bottle without disgorgement, fining, filtration, or any added sulfites. This results in a zippy, fresh, coral colored sparkling rosé with aromas of tropical and citrus fruit followed by flavors of lychee, tangerine, and orange blossom. Pairs deliciously with kimchi grilled cheese or spicy tuna Onigiri.
2022 Chateau Musar Jeune Blanc - Bekaa Valley, Lebanon (750ml) - $32
This delicious blend of 40% Viognier, 30% Vermentino, and 30% Chardonnay is hand harvested at early dawn from various estate owned, certified organic plots in and around the fertile Bekaa Valley at an average altitude of 4000 feet. Chateau Musar, which predates Lebanon’s independence, was founded in 1930 when Gaston Hochar, inspired by the region's 6,000 year old winemaking history as well as his travels to Bordeaux, planted his first vines. His son Serge was the winemaker from 1959 until his death in 2014 after which his son Gaston took over. Jeune Blanc is fermented naturally in stainless steel for 3 months on the lees which gives it a silky texture and subtle creamy note while maintaining its purity and freshness. Medium-bodied with aromas of peach, apricot, and an herbal note of thyme, the palate delivers tropical and melon flavors followed by a crisp, mineral-laden finish. Pairs perfectly with a mezze plate of olives, tabbouleh, babaganoush, hummus, kofta and fattoush or a tuna tomato melt on sourdough.
2021 Domaine David-Beaupere Julienas Les Trois Verres - Beaujolais, France (750ml) - $22
Clément David Beaupère returned to his family’s estate in 2008 after a career in engineering and commerce to lead the domaine with a thoughtful blend of tradition and forward thinking winemaking in the heart of Juliénas. He and his mother farm 4.12 hectares of blue dioritic soils organically, working to transition away from goblet pruning to trellised vines. This cuvée is made from 100% young-vine, hand harvested Gamay macerated for 20 days before pressing followed by spontaneous fermentation and aging in a mix of concrete vats, stainless steel tanks, and neutral barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with only minimal sulfur, the wine is bright and easy with flavors of fresh red fruit, earthy bitterness, a touch of effervescence, bright acidity, and easy, smooth tannins. Pair this young Beaujolais with Teriyaki chicken, smashburgers, or a couple slices of cheese pizza.
2021 Domaine De l'Epeire Primary - Languedoc-Roussillon, France (750ml) - $30
From a single plot in the Vallon de l’Ermitage de Sainte Catherine, Domaine De l’Epeire’s “Primary” is an awe-inspiring expression of Carignan grown on limestone marl and striated bedrock. Certified organic and following biodynamic practices, this vineyard is farmed by hand with a keen eye toward biodiversity and balance. This beautifully complex red undergoes a partial carbonic maceration with whole clusters and 7 days in fiberglass with some of the skins and seeds resulting in a wine that is elevated and bright while still grounded in minerality. The nose opens with notes of red fruit, red berries, and restrained baking spices leading to medium bodied flavors of violet, strawberry, cherry, red and black raspberry, mild hints of toast, lively acidity, and fine but firm tannins. Pairs splendidly with spicy lamb meatballs, pumpkin ravioli, or your favorite bar of dark chocolate.
