2025 Kobal Bajta Blaufränkisch Pet Nat Rose - Podravje, Slovenia (750ml) - $26.50
Kobal Bajta is a unique and refreshing pét-nat made from Blaufränkisch, an indigenous Eastern European varietal. The grapes are naturally and sustainably dry-farmed on the steep, wind-swept slopes of Sajerska, an ancient wine region dating back at least 2000 years. Harvested by hand, the grapes are left to ‘bleed’ for 4 hours, resulting in a gorgeous, pale, slightly cloudy, pink hue. The natural fermentation starts in tank and continues in the bottle with the aid of wild microflora. This lively bubbly is bright and exuberant with a fruity and yeasty bouquet followed by wild strawberry, raspberry and pink grapefruit flavors plus a dash of bitters on the crisp, clean, bone dry finish. Enjoy it chilled with artisanal cheese and charcuterie or stronger seafood dishes like mackerel or mussels.

2024 Casa d'Ambra Ischia Biancolella - Campania, Italy (750ml) - $30
Casa d’Ambra was founded in 1888 by Francesco d’Ambra, aka Don Ciccio, who was instrumental in putting Ischia, a tiny island near Naples, on the wine map. His three sons took over in 1952 and brought the winery into the modern era. Recently, Marina and Sara, the 4th generation of the d'Ambra family took over the estate and winemaking. This crisp, clean medium-bodied white is a blend of 85% Biancolella with the balance of Forastera, San Lunardo, and Uva Rilla, three obscure, indigenous varietals. The vines are rooted in volcanic soils rich in potassium and phosphorus about 100m-500m above sea level. The grapes are all hand harvested, gently pressed off the skins and fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tank. The result is a stunning straw yellow hue with aromas of ripe melon and stone fruit followed by enticing flavors of apricot and puckery plum ith a dash of almond and aromatic herbs. Pairs perfectly with linguine in clam sauce, shrimp scampi or Insalata Caprese with fresh basil, local Mozzarella di Bufala, and heirloom tomatoes.

2021 Margins Negrette Calleri Vineyard - San Benito, California (750ml) - $24
Another star of the UC Davis Viticulture and Enology program, Megan Bell started Margins in 2016 as a passion project aimed toward highlighting underrated regions, vineyards, and varietals. She started by crowdfunding her first eight barrels of a single white and has grown to produce around 2,800 cases per year of over 20 different wines. This 100% Negrette, an obscure varietal from Southwestern France near Toulouse, comes from certified organic vines planted in 1994 on loamy soil about 500m above sea level. The grapes are hand harvested, destemmed, and soaked on their skins overnight. They are then pressed the next day into neutral oak barrels where the wine is fermented and aged for 9 months with no fining, filtration, and mimimal SO2. The result is a light, chuggable child red with compelling aromas of white pepper, hibiscus, and balsamic that open up to flavors of juicy wild raspberry, zippy acid and light tannins with notes of jasmine tea and a dash of bitter mandarin peel on the finish. Pairs splendidly with a wide range of cuisine from Green Thai Curry to Tuna Carpaccio.

2019 Domaine des Tourelles Carignan Vieilles Vignes - Bekaa Valley, Lebanon (750ml) - $26
Carignan has existed in the Bekaa Valley for over two centuries and Domaine des Tourelles has been making wine from it for at 150 years.
These biodynamic, mostly dry farmed, 50+ year old vines are rooted in clay and limestone soils about 1050m above sea level. The grapes are hand harvested, fermented with native yeasts in concrete vats, then aged in the same vats for around two years. They are then bottled with a minimal SO2 just to preserve freshness. The result is a beautifully balanced, medium bodied red with moderate acidity, and firm, yet balanced tannins that expresses the rugged nature of Carignan but wrapped in cashmere, metaphorically. It opens up with aromas of red berries supported by a floral, herbal, anise note that leads to a palate of cranberry and cassis with earthy clay minerality. Pair this stunning red with Crown of Duck, Lamb Tagine, or a Lebanese Mezza.
