CloseJoana and António Maçanita are a dynamic and passionate brother-sister winemaking team, each with over 20 years of experience working with a combined 18 different wineries, before they launched their own label focusing on indigenous, often obscure varietals. This white is a blend of 70% Viosinho, 20% Arinto, and 10% Gouveio grown on the impossibly steep slopes of the Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo subregions of the Douro River Valley. Harvested by hand, whole bunches are gently pressed then undergo cold, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel to preserve its vibrant character. Clean and crisp, the nose is layered and inviting, with notes of fresh flowers, orchard fruits, and wet slate. On the palate, a mouthwatering juxtaposition of puckery green apple with gentle golden pear, finishes with a peppery, mineral edge. Pair this medium-bodied gem with a smoky trout terrine and freshly baked crusty bread, or try it alongside peixinhos da horta, flour battered and fried green beans.
