CloseField Recordings was founded in 2007 by Andrew Jones, a former vine nursery fieldman who spent years planning and planting vineyards across nearly every corner of California’s Central Coast. The label is a compilation of sustainable, single-vineyards and sites that Jones values most. Super Gnario is a medium bodied blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera that is great at cellar temp or with a nice chill for those warmer days. After harvest, the grapes ferment in open-top containers with twice-daily punchdowns, followed by 14 months of barrel aging. On the nose, it offers fresh raspberries and hints of leather, while the palate delivers cassis, fig, and silky tannins. Pair it with garlic-braised artichokes drizzled in salsa macha or char siu pork.
