CloseWinemaker Andrew Jones of Field Recordings focuses on generally overlooked varietals from more obscure growing sites, making both single-vineyard cuvées and eclectic blends that express the varied terroir of California’s Central Coast. Skins—a blend of nearly a dozen white grapes from throughout the region, fermented on their skins—is a unique, yet approachable orange wine. Medium-bodied with zippy but balanced acidity, it displays tropical and floral aromas with ripe stone fruit, herbaceousness, light tannins and a black pepper note on the palate. A perfect party or picnic sipper, it can also pair with a spicy Chettinad chicken Biryani or a Farro salad with feta and smoked tofu.
