With Field Recordings, winemaker Andrew Jones has turned his attention to underrepresented and underappreciated growing sites, making both single-vineyard cuvees and eclectic blends that express the varied terroir of California’s Central Coast. Skins—a blend of nearly a dozen white grapes from throughout the region, fermented on their skins—is an infinitely approachable orange wine. Round, with balanced acidity and mellow tannin, Skins boasts complex notes of tropical fruit, citrus peel, marzipan, and black pepper. A perfect summer sipper, pair with a spicy Chettinad chicken biryani or a farro salad with blue cheese and smoked tofu.
