As a young man, Alexis Hudon worked at some of the most prominent natural wine establishments in his native Quebec, before doing the same in Paris, and then becoming a vigneron in his on right under the tutelage of Lise & Bertrand Jousset in the Loire Valley. La Charge is a Pet Nat made from 100% Menu Pineau from a single parcel of 60 year old vines that he prunes, tills and harvests by hand with his team. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeast in fiberglass tank and is completed in the bottle over six months prior to disgorgement, producing fine, elegant, persistent bubbles. Unfined, unfiltered with zero SO2 added, this clean, crisp, zesty sparkler shines with stonefruit, pear, and lemon flavors, balanced acidity and limestone minerality. Pairs fabulously with milder fish like poached turbot, an ugly but delicious left-eyed flat fish, or a warm goat cheese salad with lardons and walnuts.
