CloseSuzanne and Pierre Arnold are the kind of winemakers who seem to have been carved from the granite-mica filled soils they farm, coming from a family winemaking tradition that dates back to 1711. The 45 year old vines of this cuvee have been certified organic since 2009 and are rooted in the eastern slopes of the Vosges mountains. This maceration of Pinot Gris was fermented with native yeast and aged in large foudres before being bottled without fining or filtration. The result is a zippy, refreshing wine with an amber-orange hue and aromas of honeysuckle, lilac, citrus and tropical fruit. On the palate, there are delicate notes of jasmine, lavender, stonefruit, quince, alongside a soft but apparent tannin, pleasant cidery acid, and textbook Alsatian minerality. Pairs beautifully with a seafood Gazpacho, Duck l’Orange, or Mediterranean Farro salad.
