CloseMaison Noir was founded in 2007 by André Hueston Mack, the first African-American to be named Best Young Sommelier in America by Chaine des Rotisseurs which led to stints at the French Laundry and Per Se. His micro-negociant, garage wines are grown on Other People’s Property, and are a reflection of his irreverent, unfussy attitudes towards wine subculture. Uber-authentic and true to its roots, OPP is a textbook Willamette Valley Pinot that stylistically straddles Burgundy and California. It’s light-to-medium bodied with clean, fresh berry and plum flavors, silky with soft tannins, moderate acidity and subtle earthy and herbal notes on the dry finish. Pairs perfectly with poultry and pretty much anything that’s Naughty by Nature.
