CloseFerme de Jeanna started out as an all purpose farm with vines, grains, and fruit trees. Winemaking just played a casual role until their dedicated fan base convinced them to go all in. In 2011, the original vigneron retired and passed the torch to Regis and Karine Bernard who converted the entire domaine to organic practices and are currently in process of biodynamic certification. This compelling, 100% Mondeuse is handpicked from clay-limestone soils before a two week maceration and native yeast fermentation in fiberglass tank, where it rests for an addition 6 months prio to bottling with <10ppm or added sulfur. Medium-bodied with a deep, inky hue, it exhibits aromas of sandalwood, violet and dark berries followed by ripe cassis and plum with a note of tobacco and earth and a firm, dry, grippy tannic finish. Pairs deliciously with Tartiflette or Mushroom Stroganoff.
