Nat Cool is part of a project initiated by the Niepoort winery to make light, easy drinking wines in the Bairrada region of Portugal. Made from the typically medium to full bodied and highly tannic Baga grape, this wine is a very different expression – it’s light bodied with notes of strawberry and rose petals, a touch of funk, and a hint of earthiness and spice on the finish. The grapes undergo partial-malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, resulting in a juicy and balanced acidity. Nat cool is versatile and easy to enjoy – we love it served chilled with smash burgers and a grilled beet salad.
