Jean-Marie Chaland represents the third generation of his family to work the collection of Chardonnay, Gamay, and Pinot Noir vines on 8.5-hectares situated on the sloping hill of Viré, one of the Mâcon’s most distinguished villages. The entire estate has been certified organic since 2006, though the vineyards have been organic and 100% chemical-free since his grandfather officially founded the domaine in 1967. All work is done by hand, with little to no intervening with the natural process in the cellar. The result is a light, fresh Pinot Noir with integrated tannins versatile enough to pair with herb pea salad or roast chicken.
