Grown to be a summertime red, the Glou Glou by Elios is easy to drink and chillable. It’s made of 100% Nerello Mascalese, a grape almost exclusively grown on the slopes of Mount Etna, but here planted by Nicola and Guido of the Elios team in the Monreale area on the west side of Sicily near Palermo for a different expression. The grapes undergo carbonic maceration for one day before spontaneous fermentation and seven months aging in stainless steel. Fresh and light bodied, expect notes of strawberry and cherry with moderate tannins and a backbone of earthy spice. Perfect with a chill alongside thin crust pizza or fusilli pasta salad with cherry tomatoes, feta, and basil.
