CloseClément David Beaupère returned to his family’s estate in 2008 after a career in engineering and commerce to lead the domaine with a thoughtful blend of tradition and forward thinking winemaking in the heart of Juliénas. He and his mother farm 4.12 hectares of blue dioritic soils organically, working to transition away from goblet pruning to trellised vines. This cuvée is made from 100% young-vine, hand harvested Gamay macerated for 20 days before pressing followed by spontaneous fermentation and aging in a mix of concrete vats, stainless steel tanks, and neutral barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with only minimal sulfur, the wine is bright and easy with flavors of fresh red fruit, earthy bitterness, a touch of effervescence, bright acidity, and easy, smooth tannins. Pair this young Beaujolais with Teriyaki chicken, smashburgers, or a couple slices of cheese pizza.
