CloseLocated in the heart of Loir-et-Cher, Domaine Sauger has been family owned for five generations since 1870. Today, the estate spreads out over 30 hectares, with vines grown on predominantly sandy clay soil on the left back of the Loire River. This crisp, classic Cheverny Blanc is made from a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Chardonnay, with each variety vinified separately. After a gentle pressing and malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 4 to 6 months in stainless steel before bottling, creating a balanced expression of fruit and acidity that’s less puckery than a typical Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Refreshing with vibrant aromas of zesty lime and crushed stones, the palate expresses lemon curd, peach, pink grapefruit and just a hint of passion fruit. Pair with flounder poele (pan seared with butter, lemon and herbs) or an asparagus and fava bean tart with faisselle
