CloseIn 1998, Danish-American couple Carrie and Hans Jorgensen began planting Syrah on their farm in Alentejo, a Portuguese region traditionally known for its white wines. Over 20 years later, their daughter Anne Jorgensen has taken over cultivation and winemaking, bringing in regenerative farming practices and a hands-off approach in the cellar. A blend of Touriga Franca, Trincadeira, Alicante Bouschet, and Syrah, the ‘20 Chaminé Tinto was fermented spontaneously, 30% whole cluster with gentle extractions, and aged separately in neutral French oak barrels. After 12 months, the components are blended and aged for an additional 12 months before bottling. Medium-bodied, clean and fresh, the wine opens with inviting aromas of forest floor and red berries. The palate is rustic yet balanced, with notes of fresh black cherry, flint, and moderate tannins. A lively and versatile red, it pairs well with beef barbacoa tacos, or alongside milho frito (cornmeal fried with kale) and lupini beans.
