CloseBorut Blažič started his winery in the 1990’s on land that his great-grandfather purchased after fleeing the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1890. The farm, in the heart of Goriška Brda, near the Italian-Slovenian border has old terraced vineyards on extremely steep slopes with layers of clay, marl, sandstone and limestone that are perfect for growing grapes. This 100% Rebula (aka Ribolla Gialla), is farmed organically, harvested by hand and fermented spontaneously on the skins for 5 days before resting in stainless steel for 2 years. The result is a wild, floral, exotic medium-bodied orange wine with dry tannins, herbal notes and tangy citrus peel bitters. Pairs particularly well with freshwater fish, creamy pastas or an herb-crusted roast chicken.
