A balanced Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend with firm tannins and notes of cassis and granite. This classic Left Bank Bordeaux pairs perfectly with a dry aged ribeye but would also be an amazing accompaniment to a Christmas lamb roast.

CloseMoulin de Tricot is a tiny property established in the 19th Century by the ancestors of the current proprietor, Bruno Rey who, along with his wife Pascale, tend to their 5 hectares of vineyards on a sandy, gravelly outcropping with a subsoil of clay and marl that straddles the border between the legendary appellation of Margaux and the Haut-Medoc. This classic Left Bank blend of 75% Cabernet and 25% Merlot comes from 40+ year old vines that are cultivated without the use of any chemical herbicides and are planted at high density resulting in very low yields per vine but more intense berries. Harvest is done by hand followed by a strict triage in the vineyard so only healthy, ripe grapes make it to the winery. The grapes are destemmed, crushed and racked into the tanks for fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Following malo, the wine is racked into small barrels, none of which are new and fined with egg whites before bottling. An herbaceous nose with subtle cassis aromas is followed by a full-bodied palate of ripe, dark berries, firm, dry tannins and moderate acidity with secondary spice, mineral and herbal notes on the finish. Enjoy the 2019, the last vintage before they retired, alongside a medium-rare, dry aged ribeye or a portobello mushroom steak!
