Marqués de Tomares is the project of Don Roman Montana, whose family has been making wine in Rioja Alta for over 100 years. This reserve blend features 80% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano, and 7% Mazuelo co-planted with 3% Viura. The grapes are grown organically, harvested by hand, and aged for 18 months in mostly French oak with at least 30 months of maturation in bottle before release. Bold yet balanced, this full-bodied wine has aromas of leather and thyme that soften into rich dark fruit on the palate with ripe tannins. Incredibly valued and storied, this Rioja makes a great addition to the cellar for keeps, or pairs with pollo al ajillo (Spanish garlic chicken) and chile rellenos.
