Okr, from legendary, Czech winemaker Milan Nestarec, is a blend of predominantly Gruner Veltliner, with supporting roles from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer and Pálava, a crossing of Gewurz and Muller Thurgau, farmed naturally following biodynamic principles on steep loess and sandy slopes. The free run juice macerates on the skins and stems for 3–5 days followed by whole cluster spontaneous fermentation in both stainless steel and oak. Okr, pronounced Ochre, references the beautiful color of this orange wine that pairs wonderfully with a varied cheese and charcuterie plate, Czech Houskové Knedlícky (bread dumblings) or Moravian stuffed peppers.
