CloseSanta Teresa, Venezuela’s oldest rum producer, is a family-owned Hacienda that dates back over 200 years. The entire process from growing the cane, processing, fermentation, distillation, blending and aging is all done on premises. 1796 uses a unique combination of light, heavy and pot-still rums, all aged separately from 4-35 years in their Solera. The light yields flavors of wood, vanilla, clove, and spice. The heavy features apple, pear, banana, fermented fruits, and honey while the Pot Still contributes leather, dark chocolate and tobacco notes. All three are carefully blended by the Maestros of Sta Teresa and aged in charred American white oak, ex-Bourbon. Beyond making outstanding Rum, they make a positive impact on the community by employing formerly incarcerated gang members in every aspect of production as well as forming a successful and serious rugby team! Serve neat in a snifter, on the rocks or in El Concorde with Banana Liqueur, lime juice, runny honey and a sparkling topper.
