JAYWALK Small Batch Blended Straight Rye is the latest release from New York Distilling Company based on a blend that prominently features Horton Heirloom Rye, a varietal dating to 17th century Rye, NY that had not been farmed in over 150 years. Reclaimed from just 10 seeds procured from the seed bank at Cornell University in 2010, NYDC embarked on a journey to bring this lost and forgotten heirloom grain back to life…in New York. 16 years later, it's finally in the bottle. Horton Rye is not grown anywhere else on Earth. This new release in 2025 is a blend of 6, 7, 8, and 9 year old Horton rye all grown organically in Seneca Falls, NY that is married with a touch of finished rye from Indiana and Kentucky. The flavor intentionally goes beyond the generic ‘spice’ that is commonly associated with rye whiskey. It possesses darker, caramelized and floral sugars with a range of tropical fruits, from candied pineapple and mango on the palate to honeyed notes of ripe apricot on the nose.
