CloseAdi Badenhorst, winemaker, farmer, and parrot breeder, alongside cousin, Hein, restored Kalmoesfontein farm in 2007, planting new vines and turning the winery into a family run affair. Implementing organic and biodynamic farming practices, the team takes a low-intervention approach to cultivation. This chillable red is a blend of classic Southern Rhone varietals - Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah - grown on decomposed granite on the slopes of the Paardeberg. Hand-harvested, basket pressed, and vinified in old cement vats, it's a crisp, light and refreshing red with juicy cherry, stone fruit, and watermelon flavors that's as fun as it is delicious. Enjoy with a nice chill alongside Pap and Boerewors (boy we miss Madiba!) - the South African specialty comprised of spiced farmer's sausage, thick maize meal porridge and Chakalaka - a vegetable-based relish that combines beans, onions, peppers, carrots, and a unique blend of South African spices.
