Heya (meaning ‘she’ in Arabic) is a women owned winery launched by two friends, Michelle and Claudine based on love and an appreciation for the women who work the land. In their words, Heya is "a reflection of our love for the land, the grapes, and the art of winemaking. We put our heart and soul in every bottle we make, from pruning, harvesting, making, fermenting, blending, bottling, labelling and packing. Our wines are made with minimal intervention, allowing the grapes to express themselves fully.” Ward is a 100% Syrah rosé from vines planted on limestone rich soils above the Bekaa Valley at around 1200m above sea level. The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed and direct-pressed in a vertical hydraulic press followed by native yeast fermentation in neutral oak then aged in stainless tank. It’s light and crisp but with a touch more color and concentration than its classic, southern French counterpart. Flavors of bright strawberry, pomegranate and tart cherry lead to a slightly saline minerality and earthiness with a dash of white pepper. Serve chilled and pair with light salads or on a mezza table of hummus, Baba Ghanouj, Tabbouleh, and Labneh.
