Oyster River Winegrowers are a small, organic, low-intervention Farm, Winery and Ciderhouse on Maine’s rugged North Atlantic Coast, about 70 miles northeast of Portland. Morphos is a sparkling blend of 50% Cayuga and 50% Seyval Blanc, two hybrids that are commonly planted in cooler climates. While Seyval’s parentage is half vinifera, Cayuga’s is entirely vitis labrusca, native to the Northeast, perfectly suited for the climate and naturally resistant to rot, pest and disease. Bottled during the end of active fermentation, it continues to ferment in bottle resulting in a dry, cloudy, yeasty and naturally effervescent PetNat. It’s light-to-medium-bodied with balanced acidity, restrained stone and orchard fruit flavors, and subtle fermentation notes. Pairs perfectly with oysters, clams or mushroom tacos.
