Jono Koerner grew up on his family’s vineyards and founded Koerner Estate with his brother in 2014 before setting off on his own with his partner Megan Jenkins, to launch Gullyview Estate in 2023. Located in the Southern Clare Valley which is known for producing world class Riesling, the vineyards are downwind from the Spencer Gulf and benefit from breezy warm days and cool nights - a diurnal temperature shift that’s ideal for precise, acid-driven wines with great purity of fruit while also lowering disease pressure. The vines are planted on Terra Rossa, red clay over limestone soils, destemmed and crushed prior to fermentation in stainless steel and aging on the fine lees for an additional five months. The result is a pale, golden hued, puckery white with Riesling’s telltale petrol aromas that are reminiscent of walking into a bike shop and getting a whiff of fresh tires. Trust us - it’s desirable once you get accustomed to it. Bone dry and medium-bodied, the palate opens up with beautiful poached pear and grilled peach flavors. Pairs perfectly with a spicy shrimp ceviche or mango chutney chicken.
