In the 1990s, Tamás Dúzsi founded his Szekszárd estate on reclaimed land that had been nationalized under communism. For this aromatic orange, the Dúzsi family organically grows and hand-harvests 100% Chardonnay. The grapes undergo a week of spontaneous fermentation in large open vats with an extra couple of days of maceration. The wine is then racked and aged in large Hungarian oak barrels for a year. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration, and with a small amount of sulfur. The nose brings the aroma of sandalwood and bitter herbs. Supple peach, citrus blossom, blood orange peel, and spice balance on the palate. Pair with spicy lobster bucatini or spinach croquettes.
