CloseWith official records dating back to the 1500’s, this fifth growth Chateau, as determined by the Classification of 1855, was acquired by the Cazes family of Lynch-Bages fame in 2017. That same year, they released Verso, the baby brother to their estate wine, but a legit Pauillac nonetheless. It’s a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, planted on well draining, gravelly Garonne soils with a clay underlayer. Harvested by hand and sorted over multiple passes, it’s vinified in stainless-steel tank on the skins for up to 3 weeks, then aged in one year old oak barrels for 12 months. Medium-plus bodied, this vibrant claret balances ripe red and black berry flavors with spice and vanilla notes, enveloped in warm, mature tannins. Enjoy alongside herb-crusted pork loin or morel mushroom risotto.
