Funaguchi is a rich, fairly full-bodied, unpasteurized sake with some pungent, fermentation aromas followed by subtle flavors of ripe pear, banana bread, honeysuckle and even a tropical Yuzu note. Honjozo is a blue-collar style in which some spirits are added to boost the alcohol, in this case to a deceptively boozy 18%ABV. Pairs well with a range of cuisine from Reba Yakitori skewers (with chicken and chicken liver) to spicy dishes like Thai drunken noodles.
