Kavalan is Taiwan’s first whiskymaker and the nation’s only family-owned whisky distillery. The subtropical heat that led experts to think quality Taiwanese whisky couldn’t be done turns out to be their biggest asset. In their five-storey maturation warehouses, heat makes the whisky mature faster. At a young age, Kavalan is out-shinning it’s competitors. With a nose of tropical fruit, vanilla, and coconut leading to a complex, rich whisky on the palate. The port barriques used for finishing add smoothness and round out this remarkable whisky.
