2022 Cantine Barbera Inzolia Tivitti - Menfi, Sicily, Italy (750ml)

At her family’s winery on the outskirts of Menfi, a Sicilian seaside village bisected by the Belice River, third generation winemaker Marilena Barbera produces beautiful sustainably farmed wines from indigenous varietals. Her Inzolia (aka Ansonica), is a crisp, clean, refreshing white that’s fermented with indigenous yeast and bottled with minimal sulfites. Pale in color with a tinge of greenish gold, this is an intense, yet light-bodied white that’s herbaceous with a whiff of almond blossom, lemon and stone fruit flavors, salinity and minerality. Pair with anything from a tomato based Sicilian seafood stew to eggplant Caponata.

2020 Blazic Rebula - Primorska, Slovenia (750ml)

Borut Blažič started his winery in the 1990’s on land that his great-grandfather purchased after fleeing the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1890. The farm, in the heart of Goriška Brda, near the Italian-Slovenian border has old terraced vineyards on extremely steep slopes with layers of clay, marl, sandstone and limestone that are perfect for growing grapes. This 100% Rebula (aka Ribolla Gialla), is farmed organically, harvested by hand and fermented spontaneously on the skins for 5 days before resting in stainless steel for 2 years. The result is a wild, floral, exotic medium-bodied orange wine with dry tannins, herbal notes and tangy citrus peel bitters. Pairs particularly well with freshwater fish, creamy pastas or an herb-crusted roast chicken.

2022 Rémi Sédès Coteaux D'Ancenis Samplemousse Rose - Loire Valley, France (750ml)

2020 LaOsa Prieto Picudo Trasto Tinto - Castilla y Leon, Spain (750ml)

LaOsa is 100% Prieto Picudo, native to the area of Valdevimbre in Castilla y Leon. Planted at 750 meters in clay and white stone soils, the grapes are hand harvested, sorted and 85% de-stemmed followed by a 25-day natural yeast fermentation. The wine is aged for one year in neutral barrels with 15% of the previous vintage inside the barrels. Gorgeous, deep, dark berry flavors with savory, black olive notes and a very firm, dry tannic finish. Medium bodied in weight but with enough tannic toughness to punch above its weight, pair this beautiful beast of a wine with wild boar, a thick steak or some local chorizo.
