2022 Terre Nere Etna Rosato - Sicily, Italy (750ml)

A stunning blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Capuccio from the estate’s younger vines this is a pale, enticing, world class rose from the volcanic slopes of Mt Etna. It's silky and crisp but not puckery as it undergoes malolactic fermentation which is uncommon in rose. Flavors of passionfruit and guava with ripe strawberry and wet stones. In the winemaker's words, his rosato aspires to the Platonic ideal of having the 'body of a white and the soul of a red.' I don't know if we'd go that far, but we sure love it with anchovies, charcuterie, cheese and olives!
