2020 Rodica Sparkling Malvasia - Primorska, Slovenia (750ml)

Marinka Rodica, a car mechanic by trade, decided to uproot his life in 1998 and move to the scenic Istrian hills, five kilometers from the Adriatic Sea, to found a winery with his family. Today, the estate organically farms 15 hectares of vineyards, planted with unique Slovenian varieties. This sparkling selection is made up of 100% Malvazija Istriana. The grapes see a quick day of skin contact before fermenting with native yeast in used acacia wood barrels for six months, followed by an additional six months of aging in stainless steel. This wine is elegant, with notes of orchard fruit and white flowers, in addition to a yeasty funk. Drink alongside fresh, young cheeses, like whipped ricotta on toast, or with not-too-sweet desserts like citrus olive oil cake.
