2021 Weingut Diem d'Ora Zweigelt - Niederösterreich, Austria (1Ltr)

This 100% Zweigelt in a liter bottle from a dry-farmed, single vineyard in the western Weinvertel benefits from a long, dry growing season with a continental climate of cool nights and warm, sunny days. Certified organic since 2015, the grapes are harvested manually, followed by a long, slow four week fermentation on the skins with indigenous yeast in 8000 liter, temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The result is a pure, juicy, light-to-medium-bodied red with ripe raspberry and cherry flavors, a whiff of violets and a little earthiness with gentle tannins on the finish. Chillable and thrillable, it pairs perfectly with Wiener Schnitzel, obviously, as well as an array of sausages from bratwurst to chorizo.
