A winemaker born and raised, Christina Netzl has been making this line of Organic Natural wines in the village of Göttlesbrun in southern Austria since 2013. This red is made from 100% St. Laurent, an aromatic thick skinned grape grown mostly in Austria and Czechia. Christina begins with a three week carbonic maceration, a technique that emphasizes flavors of fresh red berries and light spices. The grapes are then pressed and fermented as juice for four months. The resulting St. Laurent has juicy sour cherry and cranberry aromas, with green olive and sandalwood spice on the palate. Pair this with roast pheasant or a real wild turkey.
