2020 Saint Verny Le Pinot Noir Puy de Dome - Loire Valley, France (750ml)

This easy-drinking Pinot Noir comes from the relatively remote Puy de Dôme region in Auvergne, just north of the Massif-central. Made by the local co-op, the wine is fermented in stainless steel followed by 3-4 months of élevage on the fine lees. Lively aromas of ripe red cherry (as the label suggests!) are followed by a fresh, juicy palate and a soft, light tannic finish. Vines are grown on volcanic soil adding a nice mineral note. A great everyday wine that is a perfect match for salads, pizza and poultry!
