2019 Sons Of Wine Soulographie - France (750ml)

Soulographie comes from the young, irreverent, natural winemaker Farid Yahimi, based in Alsace. He bottled his first label of Sons of Wine back in 2010, after learning the trade from his cousin Carole, the founder of the French Association of Natural Wine. This is a medium bodied blend of 30% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Blanc, 30% Auxerrois, and 10% Pinot Gris sourced from a vineyard in the village of Saint-Hippolyte, on the far eastern edge of France. It is smooth and round with citrusy notes of lemon and pineapple, and a strong backbone of mineral and a little funkiness. Although it can stand alone as an aperitif, it's versatile enough to pair with soft stinky cheese or flaky fish like pan fried cod in beurre blanc.
