Nero d’Avola, indigenous to Sicily, thrives on the volcanic, calcareous, rich, high altitude vineyards there. At the Di Giovanna estate in Contessa Entellina and Sambuca di Sicilia they produce a marvelous medium bodied red wine with notes of wild berry, plums and distinct bright cherry. It is made entirely with estate fruit and produced in the Di Giovanna wine cellar and packaged directly from Tank 18. You can take advantage of is distinct minerality and pair it with a sharp cheese or serve it with a traditionnal italian Osso buco.
