Semaphore 7 is a delicious, ripe, full-bodied yet balanced blend of three indigenous varietals - Alicante Bouschet, Tinto Aragones (Tempranillo), and Trincadeira - from the Alentejo region of southern Portugal. Aged for three months in American Oak barrels heps bring this wine together and soften the tannins just a touch. The winery is committed to environmentally responsible practices. Their land is divided between vineyards, cork forests and areas used for the breeding and conservation of native species, including the Merino sheep, which graze among the vines during the winter months, replacing herbicide. During the summer, the sheep feed on the underbrush in the cork forests (which consumes large amounts of carbon), reducing the risk of fire. Pair with steak, lamb or Port-washed-rind cheeses like Port Salut, Pont-l’Eveque or Reblochon.
