From the rural town of Karditsa in Thesally, Kontozisis Sun red is a 50/50 blend of the graceful and aromatic Limniona with the rustic and earthy Xinomavra. The result is a wine that exhibits a rare elegance in a Greek red. The grapes are organically grown, harvested and sorted manually with a cold extraction for 48 hours prior to fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 18 months in new and used oak barrels. The nose has hints of violet with intense aromas of wild, sour cherries and an herbal note. It’s medium bodied with dry, firm tannins on the finish. Pairs perfectly with chicken Souvlaki or lamb kebabs.
