Polish Witchcraft: A Vodka Tasting

This Saturday, October 16th, 5-8pm

Ft. Greene denizen Agata Podedwerny travels to her native Poland to distill Alchemia. Its authenticity is above reproach – as is Agata’s. We wanted to mix cocktails featuring her ginger, cherry & chocolate infused vodkas, but she insisted that you taste her concoctions unabridged. So Saturday night, stop by for Vodka straight from the sorceress herself.

Artist Reception & Wine Tasting Tonight, October 13th

Stop in tonight from 6-9pm and welcome our new artist, Matthew Kanbergs. We’ll toast him with 4 wines, including an outstanding Pinot Noir from its natural home – Burgundy.

Swans, from Matthew Kanbergs exhibit, We Were There

Matthew aims to capture the ordinary in a provocative light. In that spirit – and to continue our efforts to give you a taste of the many different faces of Pinot Noir – we thought we’d celebrate Matthew’s collection by opening two bottles from Burgundy, a place that appears humble and unassuming but is, in fact, the origin of much that is extraordinary.

Whether it’s growing in France, California or Tasmania, Pinot Noir is essentially the same vine variety.

But once the grapes have been picked and vinified, Pinot produces an extraordinary range of styles – from fresh and fruity to earthy, soulful and seductive. Over the next several weeks, we’ll do our best to showcase Pinot Noir’s variety and give you a sense of why so many wine lovers look wistfully towards the horizon and babble bad poetry in an effort to describe what begins as a black grape on a leafy vine. Last Friday, we tasted 3 New World Pinots,

This Wednesday, from 6- 9pm, taste a Pinot from the soul of the wine world – Burgundy.

We’ll also sample 3 other wines, including a Cremant de Bourgogne – a sparkling wine made from Chardonnay, the other half of Burgundy lore.

A TASTE OF NEW YORK : September 29th – October 6th

New York was home to some of the countries first vineyards. Settlers began planting vines in the early 19th century, and, by the end of the Civil War, the state’s Finger Lakes district was producing boatloads of wine. At the same time, a grape-belt of sorts was cropping up along Lake Erie. Long Island, now the star of the New York wine scene, is the baby of the family. Wineries there are relatively new, but they’ve helped put New York back on the international map.

From now until October 6th, we’ll be showcasing what our state has to offer the wine world. Below is a calender of our upcoming in-store New York wine tastings.
