Our good friend and local resident, Meridith McNeal, is also our newest featured artist! Come on down to Gnarly Vines this Wednesday from 5-8 pm to check out her exhibit, Italian Lessons, inspired by her time in residence at The American Academy in Rome.
To keep with the theme, we’ll be pouring several Italian wines, one of which will be pretty special – our 2003 Il Colle Brunello di Montalcino. At tastings we rarely open a Brunello, an elegant expression of Sangiovese from Montalcino, a small commune in Tuscany just south of Chianti.

It’s Friday night and you’re looking for food, wine and music. Why not get all three and support the kids of PS 11 at the same time? Brian will be leading a wine tasting and there will be beer from the Brooklyn Brewery. A boatload of items will be up for bidding in the silent auction and door prizes will be given to the first 25 guests that arrive. See you there…

Don Sebastian Serralles founded his family’s sugar cane plantation in Puerto Rico in 1861. Four years later his son, Don Juan (the man the myth the legend), began distilling DonQ Rum, which today outsells Bacardi 3-1 in Puerto Rico. Come cool off from 6-9pm this Saturday with a DonQ Mojito or one of the other rum cocktails we’ll be pouring.

Even if you don’t have kids or completely lack a social conscience, or both, these are still some of the best tickets in town. There’s good food, good music and plenty of wine from Gnarly Vines. So all you misanthropes, come party with the do-gooders for a great cause – or for no cause at all. Either way, there’s fun to be had and local kids end up better off.
Finally, we’ll be having a good old fashioned rum tasting on Saturday night – for no particular reason….
