Rose Season Has Arrived
Rosés get their color from a brush of contact with the grape skins. Some end up lighter, some are darker – but they’re all refreshing and delicious. Memorial Day marks the official start of rosé selection, but we couldn’t wait. Our selection is in full bloom and now tops three dozen – that’s more than 36 shades of pink to choose from. Throughout the spring and summer, we’ll do our best to introduce you to as many rosés as we can!

2010 Les Comptoirs de Magdala Rosé – Vin de Pays de Mont Caume, Provence, France (3L bag in a box) – $30
Another “I can’t believe it’s boxed wine!” treat from organic/biodynamic wine producers Les Comptoirs de Magdala. This light-bodied gem is peachy-pink in the glass and tastes crisp but not puckery with a hint of cranberry. Perfect with grilled fish, hearty garden salads, or on it’s own.
2010 Domaine de la Patience Costières de Nîmes Rosé – Rhone Valley, France – $12.50
This family estate located in the Costières de Nîmes takes its name from a wild, aromatic herb called La Patience that can be found throughout the vineyard. As soft and easy as a southern French afternoon, this rosé has pretty, aromatic fruit with a touch of wild strawberry preserves. 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah.
2010 Rimbert Petit Cochon Bronze Vin de Table de France – Languedoc, France – $11.50
The “Tan Little Pig” is more elegant than the name suggests, with aromas of ripe red cherries, a hint of smoky, sweet herbs and pronounced minerality. A pretty, light bodied Rhone blend (Carignan, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre) that’s a great choice for spicy couscous, tagine, or grilled meat. Made using biodynamic and natural practices.
2010 Les Chemins de Bassac Isa Rosé – Cotes de Thongue, Languedoc-Roussillon, France – $15
Hello, beautiful! This blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah is a delightful, medium-bodied rosé with lots of personality. Aromas of ripe strawberries and cherries, a smooth texture and a crisp, dry finish make for a wonderfully balanced wine.
